Training
Equity Dental has created an innovative patient protocols that will allow your office to efficiently manage the insurance contract by focusing on preventive dentistry vs major restorations. Our goal is to train your office to provide 50% or more of total treatment under diagnostic and preventative services. In other words, the majority of treatment can be provided by assistants and hygienists.
Financial Stability
It’s much easier and less stressful to run a practice when you know that you have guaranteed money to cover overhead costs such as employees, lease, supplies, and more. Medicaid community contracted providers with Equity Dental will receive guaranteed monthly capitation contracts. Contract sizes vary depending on clinic capacity, population demographics, and availability.
Team
As a contracted provider with Equity Dental, you are part of a team. You don’t have to practice alone on an island anymore. Our founding dentists and other community dentists are glad to collaborate and provide mentorship. Furthermore, we are committed to creating a friendly environment where your Equity Dental colleagues are more like family than work associates. Equity Dental will be offering in-person continuing education with engaging speakers and social functions.

What does a capitation contract look like?
Capitation contracts are based on the population pool assigned to your office. Capitation contracts pay per person per month assigned to your practice. In exchange for your capitation payment, each office is expected to provide dental treatment to the patients assigned to your office in the amount equal to your capitation payment. The dental treatment your office provides will be tracked through dental claims generated for all procedures and submitted to Equity Dental. The fees for the patients in the capitation group are based on a mutually agreed upon fee schedule. The fee schedule will likely be closer to your customary fees than reduced Medicaid fee for service rates.

Does it cost money to join Equity Dental?
Yes. Every contracted provider will be required to be an owner in Equity Dental and purchase shares of Equity Dental. The share price will be valued at the time of offering based on what round of investment you become part of Equity Dental.
Do I have to change the way I practice dentistry?
Possibly. As part of our mission, we strive to focus on preventative dentistry and believe that 50% or more of your capitation production should come from diagnostic and preventative procedures. Equity Dental encourages our providers to manage their time and resources well by not performing extensive restorative procedures on patients that have advanced oral infections. We believe that providing the best care means that we should focus on eradicating the disease that is causing problems in the patient’s mouth before working on repairing the damage. In other words …. if a house was on fire, would you install new doors and windows or would you wait until the fire was extinguished? Over the past 10 plus years research has continually shown that combination preventative therapies are incredibly successful at stopping carries and preventing future infection. Equity Dental is taking those scientifically proven methods and establishing them as the foundation of our care delivery model.
Do I have to change the name of my office?
No. You will not have to change the name of your office.
